Dr Crowther is passionate about delivering exceptional results believing there is no challenge too great. He has a special interest in adult orthodontics and utilises his great communication skills to make all patients feel comfortable when sitting in his chair.
At the forefront of Australian orthodontic treatment, Dr Crowther is particularly interested in expanding the boundaries of orthodontics through new technologies and aesthetic appliances. He has lectured and taught lingual orthodontics at the University of Queensland (UQ) – where he graduated with First Class Honours .
Dr Crowther has amassed a wealth of professional experience throughout Australia. After graduating from UQ in 2002, Lachlan practised as a general dentist in the town of Longreach for three years where he was employed by Queensland Health as the Senior Dentist for the Central West region.
Later, he moved to Sydney and in 2008 obtained his Masters in Orthodontics from the University of Sydney where he was awarded Honours for his outstanding achievements during his training.
After graduating he worked in Sydney and Dubbo as an orthodontist in a group specialist practice. Dr Crowther returned to his home town of Brisbane at the end of 2010 to commence specialist practice and established EDGE Orthodontics with his wife, Dr Angie Phelan.
In 2012 Lachlan commenced Greater Springfield Orthodontics with Dr Peter Southall.

As soon as she started dental school, Dr Phelan knew she wanted to be an orthodontist. She graduated from the University of Queensland in 2005 as a dentist with First Class Honours and went on to gain valuable experience working in general practice before moving to Sydney to pursue her passion for orthodontics. It was here that she completed her Clinical Doctorate (DClinDent) in Orthodontics at the University of Sydney.
Dr Phelan’s friendly manner and enthusiastic presence helps her patients feel reassured and relaxed at all times. Known for always going the extra mile, she is a perfectionist who prides herself on achieving results that exceed her patient’s expectations.
Having grown up and attended school in Coorparoo at Loreto College, she jumped at the opportunity to return to her hometown and open Edge Orthodontics with her husband, Dr Lachlan Crowther.
Dr Phelan has a keen appetite for expanding her knowledge in the field of orthodontics and has been involved in several research projects, including working on a study with the University of Michigan on facial growth and development.
During her downtime she enjoys keeping fit, spending time with friends and family and trying not to talk endlessly about teeth with Lachlan!
