Dr Shelley Coburn loves being an orthodontist and finds the most rewarding part is seeing her patient’s brilliant new smiles on the day they complete treatment.

Dr Coburn studied at the University of Otago and the University of Adelaide and holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery, a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics and is also a certified Invisalign provider.

After graduating from dental school in 2003, Dr Coburn spent over 8 years working as a general dentist in New Zealand and Australia in both public hospitals and private practices. During this time, she shared her dental experience and knowledge by tutoring undergraduate dental students at the University of Sydney and the University of Adelaide.

Having gained extensive experience in general dentistry, Dr Coburn decided to pursue her passion for orthodontics. She completed the 3-year Doctor of Clinical Dentistry programme in Orthodontics at the University of Adelaide. During this time, she received an award from the Australasian Begg Society of Orthodontics for her postgraduate research on bone biology in orthodontics.

Dr Shelley is certified by the Australian Orthodontic Board and holds professional memberships with the Australian Society of Orthodontists, the Australian Dental Association and the World Federation of Orthodontists.

When Dr Shelley isn’t creating beautiful smiles, you might find her at karate training (where she holds a 3rd degree black belt), exploring Melbourne’s fabulous restaurants or planning her next travel adventure.
