Shaneel’s initial involvement with the practice was as a teenage boy when he had his own orthodontic treatment completed by Dr Martyn Riley. Inspired by his experience Shaneel went on to study Dentistry at Melbourne University. After graduation Shaneel Shastri worked in general dentistry for 5 years both in Melbourne and Cairns. During that time he developed a strong interest in aesthetic dentistry and multidisciplinary treatment planning while continuing his further education resulting in his fellowship to the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.
Shaneel then pursued specialist orthodontic training completing his Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in orthodontics. His training encompassed all aspects of orthodontic treatment including special expertise in Invisalign treatments. Shaneel is certified by the Australian Orthodontic Board (AOB).
Shaneel is delighted to be back working in the area he was bought up in. He brings to the practice a wealth of experience and knowledge in Orthodontics and other areas of dentistry.
When not creating smiles at The Look Orthodontics, Shaneel enjoys spending time with his wife and his family, as well as fishing and photography.
Originally from Birmingham, UK, Aidan qualified as a dentist in 2001 from the University of Sheffield. After lots of general dental experience in various parts of England, a few years of teaching undergraduate dentists at Bristol University, and completing an additional Master of Science degree, Aidan developed two main career goals – further education to become a Specialist Orthodontist, and to move to Melbourne. He is delighted to now be living and working here, both professionally and personally, and is very proud to have received his third (and final!) degree from Melbourne University. Aidan has two children, giving him a good understanding of the situation parents find themselves in when they seek orthodontic care for their child. He has also worn braces as an adult and understands the concerns of older patients who are thinking about improving the appearance and alignment of their teeth. Choosing an orthodontist for you or your child means placing an enormous amount of trust in somebody you do not really know, and Aidan takes pride in being able to repay that trust. He values getting to know patients and their families, hearing about their lives, and being able to reassure them that treatment which may at first seem complex and worrying, can often be quite straightforward – and even enjoyable!
Now fully settled here with his family, Aidan is enjoying making the most of all Melbourne has to offer, from the great live music, coffee, restaurants, to exploring the great outdoors of Victoria and beyond. When not creating beautiful smiles for patients, Aidan can be found strumming his guitar and indulging his passion for music. When visiting us at the practice, patients can look forward to Aidan’s charming yet caring nature.
