Dr Marie Reichstein BDS, BSc Dent (Hons) (Adel), MSc (Orth) (Lond) Marie has over 20 years of experience providing high quality orthodontic care to patients throughout both urban and rural South Australia. Graduating from the University of Adelaide in 1984 with both a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and an Honours Degree of Bachelor of Science in Dentistry, Marie then went on to complete her Masters of Science in Orthodontics at the University of London, graduating in 1988. While at the University of London Marie was awarded the prestigious Philip Walther Prize for the highest grades in her examinations. When Marie returned to Adelaide she joined the practice of Drs Smart, McKinnon, Grave and Gallagher, where she was a former patient. Marie became a partner of the ever expanding practice in 1990 and the Managing Partner in 2014. Marie has a strong focus on staying at the forefront of modern Orthodontics. She is an active member of the Australian Society of Orthodontists and has previously been the President of the South Australian Branch, as well as a Committee Member and Treasurer. Marie frequently attends national and international conferences, and in 2014 was the Convener of the highly successful 24th Australian Orthodontics Congress held in Adelaide. Marie is also a member of the Australian Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the European Society of Orthodontists and the World Federation of Orthodontists. She is a Fellow of the International College of Dentists. Marie is enthusiastic about orthodontic education and was a Clinical Tutor and Senior Clinical Tutor at The University of Adelaide for several years. She has also given numerous lectures and presentations. Marie’s vast experience, friendly nature and down to earth approach to orthodontics ensures that each of her patients have the best experience and treatment outcome at Smart Orthodontics.
Dr Richard Salmon BDS(Otago, NZ) DClinDent (Orthodontics) (Adel) Richard joined Smart Orthodontics in 2001 after completing his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Otago, New Zealand and Doctor of Clinical Dentistry from the University of Adelaide. Since then he has been an active member of the orthodontic community, serving as a council member for several years and then as President of the South Australian Branch of the Australian Society of Orthodontists in 2007-2008. Since 2003 Richard has served as a Consultant Orthodontist to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital and Australian Craniofacial Unit where he regularly works with patients with complex medical conditions, craniofacial disorders and cleft lips and palates. He has presented at both Orthodontic and Craniofacial Conferences on this subject and is involved in the education and teaching of post-graduate students from the University of Adelaide With his wide range of experience and active involvement in both the orthodontic and craniofacial community, Richard strives to provide his patients with the best possible care.
