Dr Daniel Lo-Cao is a registered specialist orthodontist. After completing his post-graduate dental degree at the University of Sydney, he practised as a general dentist for several years before undertaking three years of full-time, specialist training at the University of Melbourne. His training included regular appointments at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne and the Royal Children’s Hospital. Dr Dan has experience treating a diverse range of cases including traditional braces, clear aligner treatment, temporary anchorage devices, complex orthognathic surgical cases, as well as patients with craniofacial syndromes and cleft lips and palate.

For his thesis, Dr Dan collaborated closely with leading Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons. His study focused on the accuracy of virtual predictions in determining the final position of the jaws following orthognathic surgery. Additionally, he conducted further research as part of a Master of Philosophy, using modern 3D analysis to compare the effects of clear aligners and Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs) in correcting open bites.

Dr Dan's career achievements and memberships:
• Invited to deliver lectures on his research internationally at the American Association of Orthodontics annual meeting and the European Society of Orthodontists congress
• Awarded the Best Research Poster prize at the Australian Society of Orthodontists congress
• Certified by the Australasian Orthodontic Board
• Member of the Australian Society of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontists, European Society of Orthodontists, and the World Federation of Orthodontists

Dr Dan was raised in the Hills Shire District and attended Matthew Pearce Public School and Baulkham Hills High School in his younger years. During his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and you might catch him on an early morning run at a local park. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and enjoys learning new languages.
