Ian graduated in dentistry in 1982 from the University of Sydney and joined the Royal Australian Air Force as a dentist where he worked at the RAAF base in Wagga Wagga and then at the Australian Defence Force Academy in Canberra.
In 1989 he graduated from London University with a Masters degree in Orthodontics and returned to Sydney to commence specialist orthodontic practice. In 2008 he was accepted for membership in the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in the specialist field of orthodontics.
Ian has been a specialist orthodontist on the Northern Beaches since 1991 and as well as his private practice he is a clinical associate teaching post graduate students in the Orthodontic Department at Sydney Dental Hospital. In addition to this honorary work at the Dental Hospital, Ian also provides free treatment for selected disadvantaged children through the “Give a Smile” program established by the Australian Society of Orthodontists.
Ian Westmore Orthodontics is also a sponsor of the Manly Bombers Junior AFL club.

Ian has chosen to only treat children and teenagers in his practice so that the focus of the treatment is specific to this age group.

John studied dentistry at Sydney University, graduating with Honours in 2008. After graduating from dentistry John gained broad general dental experience while working as a general dentist for six years servicing both rural New South Wales (Dubbo) and Sydney’s western and south-western suburbs.
In 2014, John was accepted into the competitive Sydney University Orthodontic Program to specialise in Orthodontics, graduating with a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics). John holds a part-time honorary position as a clinical instructor in the Sydney University Long Orthodontic Course, providing orthodontic education and clinical guidance to dentists performing orthodontic treatment on patients at the Sydney Dental Hospital.
John places a strong focus on patient education and has strong interests in functional jaw orthopaedics, complex interdisciplinary cases (compromised, missing and impacted teeth), aesthetic orthodontic appliances (clear braces, clear aligners and lingual braces), orthognathic surgery (correction of jaw alignment or jaw-size problems) and adult orthodontics.
John’s interests away from orthodontics include fitness, playing tennis, fishing and learning to surf.
