Coastal Orthodontics: Tweed Heads
Dr Herriott graduated from University of Queensland (UQ) in 1977 with honours (Bachelor of Dental Science). After graduating, Dr Herriott worked as a general practitioner in outback Queensland and then the northern suburbs of Sydney before establishing his own modern practice in the Northern Rivers area of NSW. This was a general dental practice with special emphasis in the treatment of children, orthodontics and dental facial orthopaedics, oral surgery, pain anxiety control and aesthetics of the smile. Whilst practicing as a general practitioner, Dr Herriott also studied part-time to achieve by examination a fellowship in the Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. In 1990 Dr Herriott moved to the USA with his family and completed a Masters of Science in Oral Biology, along with his specialist Orthodontic Degree, from the University of Louisville in Kentucky, USA. He also successfully completed his Phase II examinations for the American Orthodontic Board. Since then he has practiced specialist orthodontics only, with special emphasis on growth and development of the growing face and dentition. He has a keen interest in adult treatment modalities. Dr Herriott is an active member of the Gold Coast, Northern Rivers and Brisbane study groups, having held positions both federally and locally with professional dental associations. Het maintains an active social life outside of his orthodontic practice with his wife and four boys, enjoying rowing, cycling, surfing, boating, fishing and golf. He also has an interest in wine appreciation and orchid growing.
Charlotte qualified with a Bachelor in Dental Surgery from the University of Manchester in 2000. Over the next 3 years she worked in a variety of posts in general dental practice, maxillofacial surgery departments and dental hospital gaining knowledge and experience in all aspects of dentistry. During this time she achieved her Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians (MFDS). Following this success she made the decision to specialise in the discipline of Orthodontics. She was accepted onto a full time, 3 year, postgraduate training programme at The University of Leeds and graduated with Masters in Dental Science. She was also awarded the Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons (London) and was awarded a prize from the British Orthodontic Society for best treated exam cases. Charlotte has been working in Orthodontics for many years now and continues to feel excited every day about the job. She finds tremendous job satisfaction seeing smiles transform and people’s self-esteem increase dramatically. She enjoys being able to treat patients of all ages and tailoring their treatment in order to deliver outstanding results and meet their expectations. She frequently attends courses and conferences to stay up-to-date with the current research and treatment modalities. Charlotte grew up in a small seaside town of St Annes on the North West Coast of England. She relocated to Australia in 2007 and settled on the Gold Coast in 2012. She is the mother of 2 young girls and has a busy family life outside of the practice. She also enjoys keeping as fit as possible and enjoys the beautiful hinterland and the beaches. She is registered with AHPRA as a Specialist in Orthodontics and Dentistry, and is a member of the Australian Dental Association and British Orthodontic Society.
