Professor Dreyer Editor of the Australian Orthodontic Journal and head of the Orthodontics Unit at Adelaide Hospital.

Professor Dreyer currently holds the PR Begg Chair in Orthodontics at The University of Adelaide, after obtaining his orthodontic qualification in 1981 and his basic dental degree in 1974.

He has been an academic and a researcher for the past 30 years and involved with the education of dental and orthodontic students. During that time he has held a number of executive positions within the University and currently serves as an Assistant Dean and convenes the Academic Advisory Committee of the Adelaide School of Dentistry.

Dr Dreyer has been active in the orthodontic world as an external examiner and as a member of the World Journal Editor’s Forum. He is an international member of the American Association of Orthodontists, a Member of the European Orthodontic Society, a Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists, as well as holding executive positions in the Australian Society of Orthodontists and the Australasian Begg Society of Orthodontists of which he has been awarded life membership.

For the past 20 years he has been involved in the Committee of the Australian Orthodontic Journal and is currently the Editor-in-Chief.

Dr Dreyer holds an education qualification as well as several higher clinical degrees and Fellowships. The educational aspect of his career has been the most rewarding, as students are nurtured through educational programs. Interaction with students has the effect of either keeping you young or tiring you out. Dr Dreyer intends to remain forever young.

Dr McLean is highly regarded by her colleagues in the dental and orthodontic professions. She has held appointments in a broad range of dental environments including The University of Adelaide, South Australian Dental Service and private dental practice (both general and specialist).

Dr McLean completed original research leading to a Master’s Thesis and Master’s Degree in Dental Surgery (Orthodontics). She has presented papers at scientific meetings in Australia and New Zealand as well as educational lectures and extended courses to dental professionals.

Dr McLean is an Honorary Life Member of the Australian Dental Association S.A. Branch. This award is the highest level award offered by the ADA and acknowledges her outstanding service and contribution to the dental profession. In 2008 she was awarded the Australian Dental Association Service medallion.

As well as her private practice commitments, Dr McLean holds an impressive list of voluntary appointments with the ADA and allied organisations. She is a current member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Dr McLean was a 2007 Telstra Business Women’s Award Finalist and is a mentor to many dentists and a role model to younger members of the profession.

In 2016 Dr McLean was awarded Honorary Life Membership of the Australian Society of Orthodontists and in 2020 Dr McLean was recognised as a Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for her significant service to dentistry and professional associations.

Dr Meade graduated from University College Cork, Ireland with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. He practiced dentistry for many years in Ireland, the United Kingdom and Queensland before undertaking a three year orthodontic specialist training program.

In 2012 Maurice graduated with a Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) and membership to the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. His orthodontic research has been published in international dental journals and he has presented at the British & European Orthodontic conferences.

Dr Meade is involved in teaching orthodontics to dental students at the Adelaide Dental Hospital. He regularly attends courses and conferences in an effort to keep up with the latest developments and provide his patients with the most current orthodontic treatment solutions.

In 2013 he emigrated from his native Ireland with his Adelaide born wife and two young daughters to South Australia. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family, most sports (especially soccer), music and the great South Australian outdoors.

Dr Eugene Twigge BChD, PDD (Cape Town), DClinDent (Orthodontics)(Adel), MOrth (RCSEd)

Eugene completed a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and a Postgraduate Diploma in Dentistry in Cape Town, South Africa. He and his family moved to South Australia in 2010. Eugene worked for eight years as a general dentist before commencing his specialist qualifications, graduating from the University of Adelaide with a Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics. Eugene was awarded the prestigious Milton R Sims Award for the most meritorious Orthodontic student in Australia for 2014-2015.

Eugene has authored orthodontic research articles in major orthodontic journals, and has a keen interest in clinical orthodontics, growth and development and is dedicated to his own professional development. Eugene is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Eugene is an enthusiast orthodontist with a friendly, caring demeanor. Eugene’s vast experience working with children ensures patients will feel at ease whilst receiving the highest quality care.

He and his wife and three children enjoy family life, their community and outdoor living.
