Dr Sabrina
Michael is an AHPRA registered
specialist orthodontist and ASO member
I decided I wanted to be an orthodontist when I was in high school. Having braces literally changed my life, not only in that the experience inspired me to pursue a career as a specialist orthodontist, but more specifically the absolute appreciation I had in how the experience of having braces had transformed me, both in giving me a beautiful smile and also in changing the way I felt about myself. To have the opportunity to share in that experience repeatedly with others and to be able to help them to achieve a smile that is not only healthy but also that they feel delighted to share, is what satisfies me most about being an orthodontist.
I grew up in Wollongong. In 2003, I moved to Adelaide to study dentistry, graduating with both a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and a Bachelor of Science in Dentistry (Honours) – first class. In 2010, I commenced my specialist orthodontic study, and completed an additional three-year intensive speciality programme to graduate with a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) in 2012. Since specialising, I have worked locally as an orthodontist and as a lecturer at the University of Sydney. I am a member of the Australian Dental Association, Australian Society of Orthodontics and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons.
I am delighted to work at Illawarra Paediatric Dentistry, alongside, Dr Jason Michael, so that we may combine our specialties of orthodontics and paediatric dentistry. This allows us to provide highly personalised, specialist dental care for your children.
My family and I have made the Illawarra our home and we love being part of this friendly local community. I enjoy sharing my spare time with my family and friends, as well as running, swimming and enjoying our beautiful coastline.
