Dr Patty Medland is loved by her patients, as her signature warm and friendly chair-side manner makes both children and adults feel instantly at ease. Dr Medland brings a wealth of expertise and local and international experience to the practice, with qualifications in orthodontics and children’s dentistry.
Dr Medland’s dual training provides particular insight on the growth and development of teeth and jaws in children. This unique skill set has positioned Dr Medland as a leader in her field, with parents and their children travelling from far and wide to experience her vast knowledge in this highly specialized discipline.
Dr Medland completed her dental degree at West Virginia University in the United States and then undertook her paediatric dental and orthodontic specialty training at the University of North Carolina; two highly acclaimed world class universities.
In order to uphold her reputation for being the best, Dr Medland is continuously upskilling and updating her orthodontics knowledge. Like her husband Dr Bill Medland, she is also an expert in popular cutting edge treatments such as Invisalign and SureSmile 3D technology.
Passionate about education, Dr Medland has held teaching positions in orthodontics as well as in paediatric dentistry at West Virginia University, University of North Carolina and University of Sydney. For over 10 years she also lectured in the Graduate Orthodontic Program at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, and recently taught orthodontics as an Associate Professor at Griffith University here on the Gold Coast. She has also been invited to lecture on SureSmile technology to orthodontic students in Australia and the United States.
An avid animal lover, Dr Patty Medland has been involved in voluntary wildlife rescue programs and in her downtime, she loves to keep fit and travel – especially to the USA to visit family!
