Matthew grew up in Albury prior to moving to Killara as a boy. He was educated at St Aloysius’ College junior school before becoming a boarder at St Ignatius’ College Riverview. After graduating from Sydney University, where he obtained degrees in Bachelor of Medical Science and Bachelor of Dentistry, Matthew headed to Tamworth to gain experience as a general dentist.
He then went on to study orthodontics in Denmark. Upon returning to Australia, he completed a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) at the University of Western Australia. Whilst in Perth, Matthew was involved in research and publications on the topics of oral health and inter-molar mandibular distraction osteogenesis (IMDO). As part of his time in Perth he taught orthodontics to dental students at the University of Western Australia.
One of his special interests is biomechanical force systems and their application for minimising orthodontic treatment times. Some of his favourite things to do are skiing, bushwalking and building intricate Lego structures.
