specialist orthodontist and ASO member
Dr Howard Holmes is a proud Western Australian and a passionate orthodontist. He is married to Valerie and they have one daughter.
In 1993 he completed his Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours from the University of Western Australia and was dux of his graduating year. After four years in general dental practice, Dr Holmes went on to complete a specialist Masters degree (MDSc) in Orthodontics in 2000. Dr Holmes continues to maintain professional links with University of Western Australia and currently holds an appointment as Clinical Senior Lecturer at the School of Dentistry.
Dr Holmes is an active member of numerous professional organisations including The Australian Dental Association, The Australian Society of Orthodontists, The World Federation of Orthodontists, the American Association of Orthodontists and the Dental Study Group of Western Australia. He is a Registered Orthodontic Specialist with the Dental Board of Australia and has achieved Australasian Orthodontic Board (AOB) Certification. Dr Holmes has earned numerous academic and clinical awards including the prestigious Elsdon Storey First Research Prize for the Orthodontic Research Excellence. In 2013 Dr Holmes was awarded honorary Fellowships of the International College of Dentists (FICD) and the Academy of Dentistry International (FADI) in recognition of his meritorious service and dedication to the dental profession.
Dr Holmes is the current President and the Western Australian Federal Councillor for the Australian Society of Orthodontists (ASO).
Outside of work, Dr Holmes is a keen guitarist, cyclist and surfer. His golfing skills are questionable, but he still tries anyway.
