Dr Benlee Yap is a dual qualified Specialist Orthodontist and general dentist. He holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery, a Bachelor of Dental Science with First Class Honours and a Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry in the specialist field of Orthodontics from the University of Adelaide.
He graduated dux of his dental school for four consecutive years and has won a post-graduate prize for best clinical case from the Australasian Orthodontic Board. Benlee received numerous research awards and scholarships, presented in both local and international conferences and published various articles in notable journals. His research interest is in Sleep Apnoea and he is currently collaborating with the Sleep Disorders Group at the Women's and Children's Hospital.
Outside of private practice, he maintains a position as Visiting Consultant Orthodontist at the Adelaide Dental Hospital. He holds a special interest in aesthetic and customised digital treatment options for children and adults including aligners, lingual orthodontic technique and low visibility appliances in addition to traditional braces.
Benlee has received membership by examination with the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. His professional memberships and affiliations include the Australian Society of Orthodontists, the Australian Dental Association, Australian Sleep Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the European Orthodontic Society and the World Federation of Orthodontists.
