Dr Mehta spent the early years of his life in Africa before going to Canada to complete his High School and a Science degree at the University of Toronto. He then studied Dentistry at Bristol, UK and worked in private practice before coming to Australia in 1994.
In 1998, Dr Mehta graduated as an Orthodontist from the University of Sydney with a degree in Master of Dental Science and has since been practicing as a Specialist Orthodontist in private practice.
Dr Mehta is involved in post-graduate teaching at the Orthodontic Department of the University of Sydney and also has an interest in Interdisciplinary Treatment Planning and Early Intervention with a specialised area of focus in Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
During his Master's degree, Dr Mehta focused on Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). His research which has been published was nominated one of the top 10 in the world in this field. He has lectured on this topic both nationally and internationally and is also a co-inventor in designing a unique oral appliance which has been successful in treating patients with snoring and OSA.
Dr Mehta has a commitment to continuing education with an interest in providing treatment to patients requiring Comprehensive Care. He works with the referring dentists and dental specialists using a TEAM based approach to providing solutions tailored to patients individual dental needs and concerns.
