specialist orthodontist and ASO member
Dr Arun Shailendran completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery and practised general dentistry for several years. His quest to seek further knowledge led Dr Arun to pursue a three-year full-time specialist training leading to a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) qualification at the University of Queensland. Dr Arun has presented his research at the American Association of Orthodontists conference, the Australian Society of Orthodontists meetings, and the Orthodontic Society of Ireland conference. He is a proud recipient of the Charley Schultz resident scholar award and secured a podium finish at the Seamus Keating award competition. Furthermore, he has obtained additional specialist membership Diplomas from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

Dr Arun employs 3D orthodontic technology to develop a more precise treatment plan and illustrate expected results to his patient. He believes that high-quality research with excellent clinical skills improves patient outcomes. Therefore, he has been involved in research projects at the University of Queensland and regularly attends orthodontic meetings to remain updated with the latest advances in orthodontics. He loves to teach and has been teaching both undergraduate dentistry students and postgraduates in orthodontics at the University of Queensland.
Dr Arun enjoys spending time with his daughter playing cricket in the backyard and getting lost in a good book in his spare time. He also loves to travel and explore new cultures around the world. What contents Dr Arun the most about being an orthodontist is that besides creating a positive change by transforming the smile of patients, he feels extremely privileged to see kids grow up, get to know their family, friends, and pets, and eventually become part of their lives. That to him is extremely rewarding!
