Dr Blignaut was born and raised in Newcastle, South Africa. She completed her Bachelors in Surgery and Dentistry at the University of Stellenbosch as well as a Post-Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry from the University of the Western Cape.
Following graduation, Dr Blignaut worked in a dental practice in the Netherlands for two years after which she took a sabbatical year and travelled around the world. She fell in love with Sydney during her brief visit here and at the end of 2007 relocated to Cairns. She worked alongside an orthodontist in the School Dental Clinics and rediscovered her passion for orthodontics and improving smiles.
Dr Blignaut pursued her interest and completed her specialist training as an orthodontist at the University of Sydney, simultaneously obtaining Membership to the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.
Dr Blignaut enjoys treating both children and adults with an emphasis on achieving facial and dental harmony. Her focus is on clinical excellence and she provides a wide range of orthodontic treatment including aesthetic and invisible appliances such as the Lingual braces (Incognito) and Invisalign.
