Bakopoulou is an AHPRA registered
specialist orthodontist and ASO member
Dr Anastasia Bakopoulou is originally from Caracas, Venezuela, where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Santa Maria University in 2007. She engaged in private practice overseas for 3 years until 2010. Dr Bakopoulou attended Sydney University School of Dentistry and obtained her Master in Philosophy in Orthodontics in 2011, and a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry degree in Orthodontics in 2014. Upon successful completion of the Australian Dental Council (ADC) examinations in 2017, Dr Bakopoulou received combined Dental and Specialist registration with both the New Zealand Dental Council and the Australian Dental Council.
Since 2015, Dr. Bakopoulou has held the position of Clinical Educator in the Orthodontic Department of the University of Sydney. She has been involved in the development and implementation of the Bachelor of Oral Health program within the orthodontic department. Furthermore, she has been responsible for clinical and didactic teaching of students within this program. Additional teaching roles comprise orthodontic lectures for the Doctor of Dental Medicine cohort and clinical instructor for the Orthodontic Long Course for dental practitioners.
Dr. Bakopoulou is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) by examination. She has submitted several scientific articles in the field of miniscrews and bone cements and has presented her research at professional meetings nationally and internationally.
To ensure practising with the latest orthodontic technology, Dr Bakopoulou regularly participates in various continuing education courses and enjoys attending local meetings, conferences and annual international conferences overseas.
Socially, Dr Bakopoulou enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and when the opportunity presents, volunteers in the UpClub social group for adults with Down syndrome.
Dr. Bakopoulou is tri-lingual, speaking fluent English, Spanish, and Greek.
